Shadows Beneath the Peaks
Synopsis
The story revolves around Gilgit, a place nestled in the stunning Hunza Valley, captivating tourists with its peaceful scenery. But beneath this beauty lies a hidden truth: Gilgit has faced tragedy and disaster. At the heart of it is Attabad Valley, where a landslide changed everything. Families were scattered, and lives were upended. Many lost their land, which they relied on for farming—a big part of their lives. Now, they struggle with stress and uncertainty. They also face water shortages and have nowhere proper to bury their loved ones. Despite these challenges, the people of Gilgit are resilient. They come together, helping each other rebuild their lives amidst the chaos. Yet, amidst all the rebuilding, one crucial aspect remains neglected: mental health. Despite efforts to provide financial and material support, little has been done to address the mental well-being of the people affected by the disaster. Many still grapple with profound trauma and distress, highlighting the urgent need for mental health resources and support services. Through their stories, we witness the ongoing struggles of the community, underscoring the importance of prioritizing mental health in the aftermath of such tragedies.
