Qadam Ghamu

Ancient Wisdom in a Changing World.

Synopsis

Qadam Ghamu is a powerful documentary about climate change and the wisdom of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. Made by Karakoram International University and GLOF II Pakistan, the film shows how local communities use traditional methods to deal with the effects of climate change.

One unique practice featured in the film is glacier grafting, an ancient technique passed down through generations. This tradition involves placing "male" and "female" glaciers in specific spots to help them grow into larger glaciers over time. These glaciers provide much-needed water and help the communities survive in a changing environment.

With stunning views of the Karakoram mountains and heartfelt stories from the local people, Qadam Ghamu shows how old knowledge and practices can inspire modern solutions to global problems. It is a story of hope, resilience, and the strong connection between people and nature.
